I’ve always been an avid learner. I LOVE learning. If I could be a full-time student, I would. But, not in the traditional sense. Although I completed my undergraduate degree, I have no desire at all to go further. That engineering degree was enough, and I’ve very sure about that!

The type of learning I am in love with is the non-traditional kind, including seminars, programs, classes, certifications, etc. And, I love books…mostly the non-fiction type, of course. I love anything that is going to teach me something new about me, my personal development, spirituality, health, business…you name it. If it’s going to push me forward, I’m on it.

Continuing education is great…and we all know that learning can be fundamental. I would never say that it’s wrong or should be avoided.

However, there comes a point where you have to stop using learning as an excuse to not move forward in your business.

There were many times in my business where I chose not to move forward with an idea because I was afraid. I was afraid of being wrong, or afraid of not being good enough, or afraid of not being qualified, or afraid or being a fraud. I had a lot of fear that would hold me back, stress me out, and convince me that I wasn’t ready.

As a result I’d go looking for a course to qualify me and make me feel like I was good enough, only to find that the course didn’t make the fear go away. And then I’d go sign up for something else and consequently a nasty cycle would ensue. I was on a constant search for someone or something to approve of me.

All the while my ideas were still just sitting there.

I would not only hide behind continuing education courses but I also sought out others who I deemed authorities to give me permission to run with my ideas. I can remember countless times I held myself back because someone else told me that it wasn’t a good idea or that it wasn’t going to work.

I’m sure I’m not the only one guilty of this. So, I’m just going to call a thing a thing. Sometimes we use education and guidance as a way to avoid standing in our own power. We have the tools and we know what to do. But, we talk ourselves out of it and convince ourselves that we don’t know enough to step out and do something with it.

You’ve been called to do something, and you know you are here to make a difference through your business. But deep down you don’t feel qualified. You don’t feel like you know enough or have enough experience. Perhaps you’ve said to yourself, “Who do you think you are to do that?”

What I do know for sure is that God would not call you to do something that He isn’t going to equip you to do. Now, I’m not saying you shouldn’t study or seek guidance, because we should definitely study to show ourselves approved. However, you know in your heart when you’re signing up for something because you genuinely need it, or when you’re hiding behind another course to avoid stepping out on faith.

Faith without works is dead. But what about works without faith? Today I want to encourage you. I’m not suggesting you stop learning. But what I am suggesting is that you not allow learning to hold you back from doing what you know you need to be doing right now in your business.

If you have an idea that you’ve held onto, and you’ve been afraid to do it because you don’t feel like you’re ready or that you’re not good enough, I want to challenge you to start taking some action toward making that idea a reality now.

No more waiting and no more waiting for approval from some outside source. God has already approved you. Go ahead and take action now!
